Some brief overview of book
Written by a working A & E Consultant with over 31 years clinical experience, this funny book is for just about anyone, (but maybe not your Nan). It's for readers who enjoy medical humour and also for those of you in the job from medical students, Doctors in training posts, GPs, Consultants and those long since retired. There is humour, cynicism, chlamydia and death.
Unsurprisingly, Governments and Management (should that read mismanagement?) don't come out well from this book. It will entertain you, make you smile and maybe produce a lump in your throat. If you are medical, it may also help save your sanity.
If you get the paperback there are over 40 full colour charming and sometimes inappropriate photographs which help the characters to tell their stories. The Kindle version has the black and white images. For readers in the US and Internationally, there is a glossary explaining and comparing the ranks and titles of varying stages of career of medic on both sides of the Atlantic.
. Some quotes: 'Funny. Astute.
Acerbic.' - Anonymous (a colleague who doesn't want to be named, not the hacker group) 'Not at all funny. Most locum Doctors are the Devil's spawn' - Daily Wail, (a rubbish UK newspaper). 'A gross misrepresentation of all the good work we do' - the GNC.
'Hilarious!' - my mate Steve. (Thanks Steve, I owe you a pint). 'Spot on!' - a straw poll of several Doctor colleagues at work Buy it as a treat for yourself and your friends whether medical or not.
The paperback makes a great coffee table book.
